Faith For Living

2 Tim 1:13-14, Hold fast the pattern of sound words which you have heard from me, in faith and love which are in Christ Jesus.

That good thing which was committed to you, keep by the Holy Spirit who dwells in us. This is one of the writings of Paul the Apostle to Timothy encouraging him to holdfast the pattern of sound words which he has heard from him first in faith and secondly love which are both in Christ Jesus. Paul had to write this because this pattern of sound doctrine can easily be lost without the knowledge of the person holding on to it. Severally Paul will write to believers saying, I write you to remind you of the thing I have spoken to you earlier.

David said in Psalm 103:1-2, bless the Lord, O my soul; and all that is within me bless His holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits.

Further strengthening the fact that it is possible loss track of some benefits of the Lord, or to loss track of some pattern of sound word. I have in recent time realize that a lot of us believers are losing grip of some fundamental principles of God hidden word basically because we think such principles are elementary and hence not needed to be carried along in our walk with God. We now concentrate on heavy topics, leaving behind the elementary truth of the word. Please note that there is nothing wrong with deep studies nevertheless we should not neglect the simple truth and principle of Gods word which is needful for our daily living.

One of such which we have left behind is faith for our daily life. Yes, we may know the elementary fundamentals of faith, we may even be able to teach it, but many times leave it behind in our daily duties of life. That is why lots of times we find many sick and oppressed of the devil. Beloved, aside from the fact that we need faith to access things that belong to us from heaven we also need faith for living. Though we are not of the world but we live in the world which has its system that is not in line with the dictate of the Word of God. The system of the world is perverse and cruel and full of unhealthy competition and rivalry. This system works with the five senses of man which has to do with sight. The eyes to see, ears to hear, tongue to taste, skin to feel and finally nose to smell. All these five senses help to establish the dictate of the world system. It brings along with it lust, pride, ego and self centeredness. When not properly handled in the light of the word of God it comes along with it the three enemies of faith for daily living which are fear, feelings and fact.

These 3 “fs” that stands on the way of our daily walk with God. If not dealt with will make us ordinary men. Please note that you are not ordinary but you are a god. These five senses most of the time when observed is contrary to the word of God. Fear is of the devil and its agents. Fear opens the door to the devil to come in with sickness, depression, uncertainty, and ultimately lack of innovation. A man who lives in fear cannot see God instead he see the devil in everything, such a person cannot walk in faith for fear is the opposite of faith. Note further that whatever you fear will ultimately come upon you. For God had not given us the spirit of fear but of love, power and a sound mind. Our feeling is another major obstacle to our daily faith walk. Feelings emanates from events and occurrences around us. However they are not what should determine our disposition to life. When you have just won a game or passed an exam, you feel happy but if otherwise you feel sad. As long as we still human such cannot be totally eradicated but as children of God it should not be the determining factor in our lives. Our feeling must not be on the opposite side of Gods words. It is our responsibility to ensure that our feeling align with God’s word. Let the weak say I am strong irrespective of the feelings. Thirdly is the facts, facts are outcome of what we have collated from observation. It has to do with sight. Facts maybe proved to be physically authentic but it is not the truth, for it is only the word of God that is truth. Thy word is truth O God! On the long run, the fact which seems to be on the opposite side of the word will eventually align with the word of God if you continue in the word. Facts of the doctors, economy and what have you must not be the final say in our life but the truth of the word must have the final say in our lives. Facts are just observations which should guide us in our daily prayers. Jesus said Watch and Pray. Please watch the fact and pray the truth into existence.

Beloved, these simple truths most of the time has always being forgotten by many of us, hence we result to struggling and living like someone that does not have a God that helps in times of need. Faith for daily living is needed at all times but we must have an understanding of the enemies of faith. Shalom!
