Num 13: 32 “And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched unto the children of Israel. Saying, the land, through which we have gone to search, it is a land that eateth up the inhabitants thereof; and all the people that we saw in it are men of a great stature.
Its wonderful coming your way with God’s word which is able to make you great (if you allow) and give you your inhabitance among the saints. The text which is highlighted is a portion from the story of the twelve spies that was sent to spy out the land of Canaan which is the Promised Land. Please recall the story of the children of Israel as left from the land of Bondage heading to the Land of Promised. Num 12:16 reads and afterward the people removal from Hazeroth, and pitched in the wilderness of Paran. There the Lord spoke to Moses to send men to search the Land of Canaan. Twelve men each coming from twelve tribes of Israel. These men having being selected proceeded as spies into the Land of Canaan to see whether the Land was good or bad, whether the city was built in tents or in strongholds, whether there be wood therein or not, whether the people be strong or weak and above all bring back the fruits of the Land.
These twelve men went and returned with report from their assignment. However, is their reporting, there were two groups, the first being the majority that is ten men on one side and the minority being two on the other side. The two groups saw the same thing but had different interpretation to what they saw. They both reported what they saw which is that Land flows with milk and honey which is evidence by the fruits they brought. The interpretation to what they saw was where the difference came from. The majority interpreted what they saw in the context of what they were able to do while the minority interpreted what they saw in the context of what their God was able to do for them. Beloved, be put on notice that in most cases when it comes to interpreting the things of God from the natural senses, the majority are always wrong. Beware of the opinion of the majority. Hence, the report became an evil report became it reflected their might and not the might of God who is the author and finisher of our faith.
Any report from any quarter that magnifies man rather than the Most High God is an evil report. It is a fact that the inhabitant of the land was giants but the truth is that there is a greater God that makes a small you and me greater and bigger than any giant or situation we face. The scripture says, they brought an evil report which brought fear and faithlessness into the camp. However the minority, in the persons of Joshua and Caleb saw a bigger God in them; bigger than the giant they saw. Their physical body had nothing to do with the output of their result because it was not determined by them but was determined by the God they carried. Whenever you believe the lie of the devil you believe an evil report. Whenever you say things that contradict the scripture, you spread on evil report. Beloved, evil report has no good tidings however it brings the anger of God against his people. Evil report misleads the people of God.
Please read Num 14:4, the people after they heard of the evil report made up their mine to choice a captain that will lead them back to Egypt the land of bondage. This is to say evil report of unbelief and lack of trust in God to turn thing around for good for one instead things that will eventually take you back to the land of bondage as against the land of promise. When you believe that you cannot be healed from that sickness, then you believe an evil report. Are you in need or disappointed and broken hearted before now and you no longer believe you can have a right relationship again? Then you believe an evil report that cannot take you to the promise land. Please note that all Sayers and believers of evil report will eventually die in the wilderness. You must have a different Spirit like Caleb and Joshua. For the fact that the majority are on one side does not make it right with God; however, he who is with God is in the majority, yes, the land ahead of you is flowing with Milk and Honey, believe it and you will have it, for it is yours. What you see is temporal and able to pass away, while what is not seen is permanent and eternal, hence you have to speak words which are not seen to produce what you desire to see. For the world we livein is created by the spoken words. You can create your world by the words you speak Keep speaking the right things and stop speaking the wrong things and by so doing you would be spared from evil report that leads to bondage. Shalom
